Title: A Million Reasons
Medium: Crayon, Water Paint, and Oil Pastels Dimension: 12x18 Date: February, 2017 This was apart of our Freaky Friday for Valentine's day. I learned how watercolor/water reacts to oil pastels, it sort of resisted the pastels and created a really cool effect. I liked being able to use these different mediums, and be able to play with their effects on each other. Title: Wash Park Excursion
Medium: Color Pencils Dimension: 11x7 Date: October, 2016 This is a piece I did during an excursion to Wash Park (a nearby park). I used color pencils and really overlapped colors to get a more realistic drawing. I also used white crayola to blend colors. |
Title: Cool World
Medium: Water color and a printer Dimension: 8x11 Date: December, 2016 This is a sketchbook piece I worked to combine two separate things. The picture is one of my own, that I took of two of my older sisters while we were in Reno, Nevada (The Biggest Little City in the World). The background is inspired by another big "little" city, Seoul, Korea. I used colors that are very mute, to really bring out the colors in the actual Black and White photo. |
Title: Joy
Medium: Color Pencils Dimension: 8x11 Date: April, 2017 This piece was inspired by Joy, she's a Korean singer and actor a part of the Kpop group Red Velvet. I tried to recreate this photo shoot, from their Russian Roulette comeback with Elle Korea. The most challenging part of the piece was also getting the colors I wanted for the piece and her amazing hair. I am most proud of this work, and I definitely want to work more on my skills with drawing humans. |
Title: Cool World 02
Medium: Markers, Water, Sharpie Dimension: 8x11 Date: May, 2017 This is the second part of "Cool World". The inspiration came from an airport photo of Seulgi, another member of Red Velvet. The words surrounding her are lyrics from Red Velvet's song "Cool World". I had limited supplies so I mimicked the water color effect by coloring with markers and blending with water. |
Title: Palette (everyone hates you)
Medium: Pencil, Color Pencils Dimension: 8x11 Date: May 15, 2017 This is a sketchbook I did, that was inspired by the singer IU's album and music video release of Palette. It's a song about growing up and finding out more about yourself than you did before. It's about the things that have changed and the things that have stayed the same. The song understands that not everyone will like you and how you just have to be fine with it. If you go to exactly 1:59 in the music video you will see this image. I added in certain objects just to add more color so there wasn't so much negative space. |
Title: Cat!
Medium: Scratch board and Scratch tools Dimension: 8x10 Date: February, 2017 This is a scratch board piece we did in Art Class, to focus on highlights and shades. It was actually from a picture of one of my friend's cat. It was more difficult for me to try and create forms from scratch board because scratch boards are only two colors which is black and white. This exercise didn't focus much on shading but more on texture. Title: Butterfly
Medium: Micron pens and sharpies Dimension: 10x10 Date: August, 2016 This piece was a unit we took on zen tangles. I created a butterfly, and filled it with many different zen tangle patterns. The words around it are lyrics from the song Butterfly by BTS. |
Title: Oh Sehun!
Medium: Sharpies, and Micron Pens Dimension: 8x11 Date: December 12, 2015 This is a Text Portrait of EXO's Oh Sehun. I used many words that related to him and used my knowledge of value to highlight and shade with words. The words ranged, from adjectives, snarky comments, rap lyrics, and common phrases he uses. He is a lead rapper, in the South Korean boy band EXO. I chose him because he's someone very inspiring. Title: Uncertainty
Medium: Citrasolv, Glue, and Magazine pieces Dimension: 11x8 Date: March, 2017 This piece was an experimental piece to play with citrasolv. The inspiration for the piece sort of came together when I was cutting out images to put together. It's inspired by the uncertainty of the universe and what really is out there |
Title: Living Dead
Medium: Oil pastels Dimension: 17x11 Date: October, 2016 This is another observational drawing of sunflowers in the fall, the flowers weren't lively and it became harder to draw something I was happy with. I tried to resemble the flowers as much as possible, leaving my work not so lively. I used oil pastels as my medium . |
Title: Forms and Connectors
Medium: Color Pencils Dimension: 17x11 Date: October, 2016 I really focused on shade and highlight on this piece. While using a split-complimentary color scheme, and overlapping of colors to blend. |
Title: My Voice - Taeyeon
Medium: Color Pencils Dimension: 26x13 Date: April, 2017 This piece was inspired by Taeyeon, a south-korean artist in kpop. To prepare for her album release, she uploaded 10-30 second teaser videos of each song on her album. Each box on the piece is from a different teaser video. The basis of this piece was founded on the idea of mannequins and you can probably spot the mannequins around the piece, there are about 7. Because of the choice of material it was a lot more challenging to get the colors I wanted, and it was harder to blend. But I'm proud of the work. |
Title: Diversity
Medium: Water color, plastic wrap, salt, white crayon, tissue paper, Dimension: 10x10 Date: November, 2016 This was just a small warm up I did in my art class, to just test different techniques with water color. I sectioned off the paper with masking tape, and began to paint. I used plastic wrap in the blue-purple section to make it that texture. I used salt, white crayon, and tissue paper to achieve different textures in each section. |
Title: Indifference
Medium: Color Pencils, Marker Dimension: 8x11 Date: April, 2017 I created this piece also from Red Velvet's photo shoot with Elle Korea. I changed up the colors of some of their clothing to add more color. I also chose to cover their eyes, to show indifference because their original poses were already so nonchalant and chill. |
Title: Dark Mind
Medium: Paint and chalk Dimension: 17x11 Date: October, 2016 This is a piece was a warm up to my final, the actual skeleton ribcage. I used paint and chalk to give the skull dimension. |
Title: Ribcage
Medium: Chalk, white paint, coffee, and salt Dimensions: 17x12 Date: October, 2016 This is a piece I also made in art class, while observing a skeleton. I used coffee to achieve the tan/coffee color, and white paint to get a good highlight. To make the skeleton really stand out, I used black chalk and water on the background. To get a texture I used salt as well. |
